Over the last month, to celebrate a live DevNet, we championed builders to help shape the future of payments through Alpha Build One (AB1).
AB1, the first of three developer sprints, focused on innovative payment solutions and put an emphasis on creating and improving user interface while implementing Account and Fee Abstraction features. These challenges provided developers with the chance to deep dive into underexplored problems and designs while contributing to the growing ecosystem at large.
With a USD $100,000 prize pool and the opportunity to deploy on the Aztec Network for the first time on the table, we had 50 participants, 6 teams, and a total of 13 projects submitted. AB1 garnered a wide range of innovative ideas from a wallet that utilized Ethereum signatures to create a seamless account from MetaMask, to integrating zk-email and passkey authentication within a multisig account contract for enhanced security and user flexibility.
The quality of projects submitted and the skill level of the participating builders were impressive. Now, we’re proud to unveil the official challenge winners of AB1.
Meet the Challenge Winners
🥇 Shieldswap
Shieldswap is a private DEX built on Aztec that includes a comprehensive wallet that allows users to mint and send tokens privately with an intuitive UI. The wallet safeguards the privacy of account assets and integrates multiple authentication methods (such as zk-email and passkeys) into a multisig account to allow for maximum flexibility.

🥈Aztec Wallet
Aztec Wallet supports both private and public transaction execution with a user-friendly interface that includes 2FA for added account security. 2FA is not possible on public blockchains as it requires secret information to set up, which makes this a perfect use case for private zk L2s like Aztec. Users have the flexibility to easily setup accounts with or without 2FA, and mint, send and maintain the privacy of their tokens in their wallet.

🥉Dry Wallet
Dry Wallet is a mobile app that uses React Native, incorporating biometric transaction authorization into an Aztec wallet. The wallet utilizes Aztec’s proving system that enables extremely small proof sizes to run on mobile and browser applications.
Bonus Awards and Honorable Mentions
In addition to the overall challenge winners, we had some bonus awards to acknowledge the best UX, private multi sig, security, and cloud-based wallet features. The following bonus awards include:
- Best UX by Satyam: A Chrome extension wallet with an incredibly smooth user experience.
- Best private multi sig by Gustave: A fully private multisig account contract.
- Best security features by Niko: Built different types of accounts using multiple types of signing keys.
- Best password-based account by Sergey/Skaunov: Password-based wallet that only requires the user to use a password instead of private keys.
- Best cloud-based wallet by Ofem/Vora: Custodial wallet enabled by moving PXE execution into the cloud.
How to Get Involved
Congratulations to the winners who are the first to deploy on DevNet and receive funding to continue developing their projects!
Thank you to all the builders who participated in AB1. We're excited to kick off the second sprint, Alpha Build 2 (AB2) which will focus on privacy-preserving identity verification and practical applications of ZK. If you’re interested in participating in AB2, fill out the Alpha Build Application .
